Preparing the house for sale

The most fun part about potentially selling our house is the work we're going to do to get it READY to sell if we have to put it on the market all of the sudden.

I spent much of the day today working on the garage.  I bought some rubbermaid 22 gallon storage bins, and a rubbermaid 4 drawer unit, and another plastic shelving unit for the garage.  We have GOT to get organized.

We've moved *ALL* of our holiday stuff (several large storage bins, plus the christmas tree, and a few boxes of stuff) to my mom's attic.  Also took over the tent, a storage bin full of jackets and sweatshirts, a mattress frame, and some other items.  Nice to get all that stuff out of the garage.

Then I did something that I've needed to do for years - I cleaned up my workbench.  I put the electric tools and some of the other stuff from my big red craftsman tool chest (that I'm selling in the garage sale in 2 weeks) and put it all in the rubbermaid drawer unit.  I put all my tools in the toolbox, and set aside the stuff that I'm getting rid of (for example, I have 4 sets of allen wrenches, and 3 sets of nut drivers!)

All of the garden supplies (sprinklers, small garden tools, fertilizer, etc) all went to the large deck box that I bought last weekend.  The thing is massive and now happily holds pretty much ALL of the garden stuff that I used to keep in the garage (excepting rakes and such, which still hang on the wall).

We now have half of our garage back!  The other half is *ALL* garage sale items.  We missed last year's garage sale, and so have accumulated 2 years of crap.  Well, it's not all crap.  Some of it is downright good stuff.  Especially Emily's toddler items.  We've definately got a lot to sell, and that garage sale couldn't come sooner!

I also took the recyclables to the recycling center.

Adrienne cleaned the back yard - weeded, trimmed the bushes, cleaned up the patio, etc.  We're making a lot of progress!

Other things to do - we need to fix the outdoor faucet on the side of the house.  Stupid me left a hose hooked up to it in the winter, and it froze and busted the faucet.  Luckily the water was not on.  Our neighbor is a plumber, so hopefully he can take care of that for us.

We've also got to finish painting the bathroom (it just needs another coat, plus trim work), and the hallway.  I don't think we'll do much repaiting of the stairway or upstairs.  And we've got to get the carpets cleaned.  I might have someone come next weekend to do that.

Unlikely, because it will still have all of the things that make me want to move in the first place.
